The word fitness comes from the English language and means appropriate, fit, ready (for something).
The term “fitness” has two different but related meanings. The first definition we can give of fitness is the one that refers to the generalized state of well-being and physical health achieved not only from the development of a healthy lifestyle, but also and mainly from continuous and sustained exercise over time. The second meaning of the word is that which refers to the type of physical activities normally understood as ‘fitness’ and which are generally carried out in specific sporting venues.
In recent years, military-style training programs have become increasingly popular among civilians. Courses are available everywhere in the USA, Europe and have increased massively in South American countries such as Colombia and are generally taught by ex-military personnel. Very often, the instructors held prominent positions within various military organizations. Frequently, the instructors were former recruiters (Drill instructor), members of the Special Forces or have held other distinguished positions within the military.
These courses always have some common elements, often focusing on military-style calisthenics and group running. Courses are often taught very early in the morning and at any time of the year. Students can expect tractions, squats, push-ups and lunges, as well as more difficult movements such as undulation kicks and breakdance-style flares. Almost invariably, a workout will include short runs, while longer runs are planned. Special forces are renowned for their level of fitness and the intensity of their workouts.
Physical activity is very important when it comes to staying healthy. Running, walking or playing sports 30 minutes a day can improve your life considerably. Regular physical activity has many benefits. People who exercise at least 3-4 times a week have fewer diseases and live longer. In addition, physical exercise helps prevent diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and many more that are becoming a major social problem lately.
