Every business person wants to have a good website but nobody knows the actual definition of a good website. How do you know if your website is working? What you all need to look for while designing a website. It is hard to find it what all you need and what all not until unless you have a clear metric for your measuring quality. So keeping those things in mind here are some useful aspects of strong website design.
#1. Plan a strategy
You can only reach a good website design if you have a proper strategy for it. Whenever you see a good design and you get attracted to it, it means that the company has spent a lot of time planning their strategy. Strategizing your work means planning your work the way you want to execute it. So if you have a website and you want to evaluate its quality you need to ask yourself a few questions. Does your new customer is getting a clear sense of which you are and what are you offering when they arrive at your website? Is your design capable enough to direct your visitors to search what they are searching for? Is there any clear strategy that informs your design? If the answer to all the above questions is a NO then your design is not as good as it could be.
#2. Check for the Usability of your website
Usability means checking the functionality of your website like speed, security, user-friendliness, technical details, etc. A lot of such details are not visually apparent and you do not see the security of your website when you type in the URL. The usability of your website is mainly the making or the breaking issue for the website you are working on. If a visitor is unable to find what he/she is searching for, definitely he/she will leave. If the pages of your website are taking too long to load both the search engines and visitors will notice. Ask yourself the following questions to evaluate the usability of your website.
- How long does it take to load the pages or will the visitors have to wait for long?
- How easy it is to navigate your website?
- Are all the links working properly?
- Does the website work equally in different browsers?
- Does my site work on mobile devices?
These questions will give you the result for the usability check of your website.
#3. How useful is the content?
The major two considerations regarding the content on the website are usefulness and readability. If the visitor is unable to read the content on your website he/she won’t ever come back. Readability is important because if your visitors are unable to read the content they are unable to get the message of your business. The usefulness of the content is important because if your content does not make any sense to the reader, you will lose him/ her anyway. Questions that you should ask for evaluating your content are:
- Are the fonts chosen are visible and easy to read?
- Is the contrast between background colors and font colors is high?
- Will this content be informative and useful to the reader?
Asking such questions will make you evaluate your website design on your own. With these points in mind, you will be able to make your website effective and fruitful.
