There is a variety of seinen comic series and themes, including historical and psychological ones, comedies and sports dramas, thriller and science fiction, and more that you can find on different platforms such as Mangaowl. In addition to depicting adult and more violent subjects, they explore unusual themes and frequently take a psychological and existential look at their main protagonists. They put equal emphasis on the growth of their individuals as they do on the narrative’s plot twists.

Seinen manga is action-packed and violent, although not all of them. Based on your interests, you could choose a seinen series that doesn’t center on combats as some are slice-of-life or suspense. There are several educational series to get into, many of which frequently explore subjects like human behavior, life, and more. Several of them emphasize a war of minds instead of brute force. Seinen manga provides something to everybody since there is much to explore in its magnificent universe. Here is a list of intriguing Seinen manga to add to your offline manga collection!

Humanity is driven to separate itself into tiny communities within a vast steel maze filled with frightening animals while fearing its extinction. Only a peculiar teenage guy, Killy, is courageous to venture across this dystopia’s harsh terrain. Killy battles savage monsters and other demonic forces while wielding super strength and a powerful Graviton Beam Emitter in his quest to find a person who possesses the Net Terminal Gene(genetic data that has the power to fix the shattered planet). Killy encounters new individuals, spills more bloodshed, and gets closer to discovering the Net Terminal Gene while evil follows him. The actual nature of the planet is put together via these adventures.

  • No Longer Human

Author:

Furuya, Usamaru. Dazai, Osamu.

Illustrator:

Furuya, Usamaru.

The narrative traces Ooba Youzou’s existence as it explodes out of control. He conceals himself from society because he avoids people so much. To shield himself from others and his dirty behavior, he makes shallow attempts to connect with them. He knows that to be liked or loathed, one must expose their self to society, and he wants to prevent this by all means. An explanation for why it’s such a difficult read is that this is primarily a novel of a teenage man who resides beyond the human dome but desperately wants to be part of it or at least tries to comprehend it. No Longer Human examines how imperfect and occasionally terrible humans can be. No Longer Human was skillfully written. But Usamaru Furuya doesn’t simply convey this narrative via text; he also tells it through his artworks and the significance in his frames, drawing you into the book’s pages.

  • Homunculus

Author:

Yamamoto, Hideo

Illustrator:

Yamamoto, Hideo

A middle-aged guy named Susumu Nakoshi divides his time between a luxurious first-class hotel and a park crowded with squatters. One day, a strange young guy visits Nakoshi looking for volunteers for trepanation (drilling a hole in the skull). Nakoshi, based on this unidentified person, is the ideal subject for the research. He first declines the proposal, but after having his automobile dragged away, he changes his mind. For 700,000 yen, Nakoshi consents to let Manabu Ito, a 22-year-old nursing student, create a hole in his head. Initial findings of the operation are negative since Nakoshi exhibits no irregularities. But as Nakoshi starts recognizing the homunculus in everyone, this regularity abruptly ends. How will Nakoshi deal with these homunculi when his perspective is clouded?

  • Holyland

Author:

Mori, Kouji

Illustrator:

Mori, Kouji

Yuu Kamishiro is a troubled soul who has no position in society. His classmates bully him regularly, and he feels out of place. Yuu stops attending school out of frustration and wanders into the dark in quest of a place where he is welcomed. As Yuu roams the neighborhoods, he begins to think that in a violent and lax culture, he has discovered his identity and a means of becoming accepted. Yuu takes up fists and practices one boxing strike as he builds up his power to defend himself. Yuu once more roams the neighborhoods, protecting himself from criminals after sharpening his knuckles. As he gains a profile as the Gang Fighter, Yuu discovers that different individuals are coming to him looking for a fight. Yuu engages in fistfight after fistfight as he battles the monster rising inside him while trying to find his position in the distorted and terrible culture of the alleys. He gets closer to his Holyland as he grows better.

  • Gantz

Author:

Oku, Hiroya

Illustrator:

Oku, Hiroya

Kei Kurono, a lonesome high schooler, separates himself due to his developing skepticism about others and the evil they are susceptible to. Masaru Katou, a classmate of Kei, once jumped across the railroad tracks as he waited to board the train to go to school in an attempt to rescue a drunk person. Kei chases Katou into peril out of an unusual urge to save someone else. The two teenagers succeeded in rescuing him but died by the railroad. In a house filled with strangers and equipped with a massive black sphere with a glass-like exterior, Kei awakens next to Katou.

When they discover that everybody in the area has lately passed away, instructions emerge on the black ball, ordering them to slay an unusual monster. Before dispatching Kei and the rest to claim this strange prize, the orb arms them with body suits and exotic weapons. Kei survives despite learning that the task is far more lethal than he first thought. The black sphere, which a fellow survivor claim is named Gantz, teleports him back to his dorm, where he and the other victims have scores following their combat performance. Kei resumes his regular life after dying earlier that day, but with one catch.
