It is established in Wonder Cinematic Universe lore that the folk of Wakanda worship Bast, the Panther goddess of Egypt. Even though Bast’s cultural importance hasn’t been explored a lot within the “Black Panther” films, it is been referenced in different initiatives, equivalent to “Thor: Love and Thunder.” Then again, within the comics there’s every other entity of Wakandan mythology: Sekhmet. T’Challa himself references each goddesses all over his debut in “Captain The us: Civil Battle,” explaining how Bast and Sekhmet welcome the useless into the afterlife.(*5*)
Within the comics, the connection between Bast and Sekhmet is a lot more difficult. Sekhmet originated as Hathor, the daughter of Ra, who was once remodeled into the lion goddess to punish humanity for his or her disobedience to the Ennead. Because the sibling to Bast, Sekhmet is considered a perimeter cult god whilst the vast majority of Wakanda worships Bast. Due to this fact, Sekhmet the Lion God sought the Panther God’s energy, hanging her at odds with the Black Panther himself.(*5*)
The faith of Wakanda could be an enchanting space to discover in a long term “Black Panther” movie, as the former two most commonly revolve round politics and conflict. Moreover, the MCU has already established Egyptian mythology during the Disney+ collection “Moon Knight,” which options the gods Khonshu, Ammit, Osiris, and Tawaret. Possibly the specter of Sekhmet in Wakanda may just deliver Marc Spector into the fray in a long term “Black Panther” movie, with Moon Knight and Shuri teaming up to prevent a rogue Egyptian deity.
