Over the last three years, world traveler’s Domi and Frida have made a name for themselves as Italian’s largest travel influencer couple on Instagram as @weloveourlife. Together this couple travels all around the world creating portraits of their travels to some of the world’s most picturesque locations. Domi and Frida met in high school when they were 17 and 15 years old. They finished their studies majoring in Pharmacy and Architecture and started working in their own fields. Their burning passion for travel and photography led them to create their couple profile on Instagram in 2017. Today they can boast more than half a million followers on their social media channels. We interviewed Domi and Frida and asked for some actionable tips on how to get started working towards becoming an influencer all while telling the world your life story.
You guys have achieved a large following on social media. How did you get to this point?
We can tell you that nothing comes in a short time and without hard work. Remember that everyone starts from scratch so if one has done it, you can do it too. We started with a few hundred friends and family sharing our first journey together. So we focused on creating unique content from our travels. Probably our photo at Seiser Alm in the Dolomites, which received more than 50k likes, made us known to a large audience. We have always tried to create a story in all our content and this is probably what our audience appreciates the most.
You have been running your blog less than a year ago. What are your goals?
We have made a lot of effort over the past few months to create our blog. We are so happy with what we have created now. Our blog features destination guides, photography tips, hotel experiences and travel inspirations. You will certainly find a lot of information that will be useful for your next trips. Our main goal is to keep writing about our travels and adventures. We want to help anyone who comes to our blog to better plan a trip that is a romantic getaway or a guided tour.
What do you think of the situation we are experiencing for Covid?
This pandemic has hit all sectors hard and especially tourism. It is difficult or almost impossible to travel during this period. It is definitely a difficult time but it will pass and we will return to travel the world. Right now the priority is to stay safe and continue life with the right attention. Hopefully, next year is a better year to travel than this one!
What is your most exciting travel experience so far?
Cuba is certainly the one we remember best. We visited Cuba in February just before the pandemic started. It was a beautiful trip and we recommend that you visit Cuba at least once in your life. Its colors, people and food make this island a unique place with a deep culture and incredible history. You will find many articles about Cuba on our blog that may interest you.
What are some tips for building a following?
It’s never easy at first, but you have to be patient. Focus on your project and have a specific direction in mind. A good organization of the content to be published is the first step. Building a solid community as a foundation is essential if you want to start building a following over time. Respond to all comments and engage with creators in your niche. In this way, you will make yourself appreciated and known. Also, don’t forget the importance of attracting attention with your content. Today almost every niche is saturated and it’s hard to make your way through the thousands of creators. So you have to create something original that can be appreciated by many people.
